In later years there are some exceptions to this as some manufacturers had their own ideas and incorporated a barrel bushing requiring the barrel to be removed by unscrewing the bushing as with the Browning 1910.  Yet another variation requires the slide and barrel to be removed at the same time with the barrel to be removed from the inside.

There are two methods of striking the primer, one with a hammer striking the firing pin and another with just a spring driven firing pin.
