ARIZAGA Tradename of Gaspar Arizaga of Eibar, Spain.  Gaspar Arizaga produced guns with the encircled A code.  X marks as shown before and after the serial number are supposed to indicate that it is not safe and was rejected, but there is nothing wrong with this gun.  Gaspar Arizaga produced 16,000 guns for France.  The oval A marking is .280 long X. 250 wide on both the Tang and the mag.  Marked with the five point stars.  They went out of business at the outbreak of the Civil War.
